How to Create a Meta Ads Manager Account in Business Portfolio

Managing Facebook and Instagram ads through Meta Ads Manager is one of the most efficient ways to run and track ad campaigns. If you’re setting up a new account within your Meta Business Portfolio, this step-by-step guide will walk you through creating the account and sharing access — even with yourself.

🟢 Step 1: Log in to Meta Business Suite

First, go to https://business.facebook.com and sign in using your Facebook business credentials.

Once logged in, you’ll land on the Meta Business Suite dashboard, where you can manage your Pages, ad accounts, and other business assets.

⚙️ Step 2: Open Business Settings

On the left-hand sidebar, click “Business Settings.”
This section lets you manage everything from ad accounts to users and payment methods under your Facebook Business Manager.

🧾 Step 3: Create a New Meta Ads Manager Account

  1. In Business Settings, find the “Ad Accounts” tab under the Accounts section.
  2. Click the blue “Add” button and choose “Create a new ad account.”
  3. Fill in the required details:
    • Ad Account Name
    • Time Zone
    • Currency
  4. When asked who this account will be used for, choose “My Business.”
  5. Click Next to proceed.

After this step, your Facebook ad account setup is complete.

👤 Step 4: Assign Access to Yourself or Team Members

Once the ad account is created, Meta will ask you to assign people to it. If you’re managing the ads, don’t forget to give yourself Admin access. Here’s how:

  • Select your profile from the list.
  • Choose your role:
    • Admin access (full control)
    • Advertiser (can create and edit campaigns)
    • Analyst (view only)
  • Click Assign.

This step is essential — if you forget to assign yourself, you won’t see or manage the account in Ads Manager.

🔁 Step 5: Manually Share Access Later (If Skipped)

If you didn’t assign yourself or someone else during the initial setup:

  1. Go back to Business Settings and select Ad Accounts.
  2. Choose the ad account you created.
  3. Click “Add People.”
  4. Select your name (or teammate’s name).
  5. Set the appropriate permissions and click Assign.

This is especially useful when you need to share ad account access with team members or collaborators.

💳 Step 6: Add a Payment Method

To run ads, you’ll need a valid billing method:

  1. Inside Business Settings, navigate to “Payment Methods.”
  2. Select the correct ad account from the list.
  3. Click “Add Payment Method” and enter your card or PayPal details.
  4. Click Save.

Now your ad account is ready to launch campaigns.

📊 Step 7: Access Your New Ad Account in Meta Ads Manager

Go to https://adsmanager.facebook.com.
In the top-left dropdown, select your new ad account.

You should now be able to create campaigns, track performance, and manage your ads from a single place using Meta Ads Manager.

🤝 Bonus: Share the Ad Account with a Partner or Agency

If you’re working with a marketing agency or external advertiser:

  1. In Business Settings, click “Partners”.
  2. Click “Add” and enter the Business Manager ID of the agency.
  3. Assign assets like your ad account, Page, or Pixel.
  4. Click Save.

This is the easiest way to share an ad account with an agency while maintaining full control from your end.
It’s also the recommended method in Facebook Business Manager partner access workflows.

✅ You’re All Set

By following these steps, you’ll have a fully functional Meta Ads Manager account tied to your Business Portfolio, complete with billing setup and user permissions. Whether you’re running ads for your own business or collaborating with a team, this setup gives you full control and flexibility.
